John Varvatos Fall/Winter 2013 Collection
John Varvatos‘ Fall/Winter collection bridges two distinct opposites — English dandy and New York edge. He created a look by combining the English dandy roots of great textures, autumnal colors and elegance with a strong dose of New York edginess to create a sophisticated contemporary look for today’s man. The new tailored silhouette has a subtle hour glass shape with a stronger shoulder. Layers have been stripped away to let the fabrics and new proportions speak for themselves.
His fabric selections include brushed tweeds, artisan finished leathers, hand knit sweaters, and washed velvet shoes harmonized to create a timeless yet unexpected mix that is a step forward in the constant evolution of John Varvatos. The color palette is dense with tones of grey, deep wines, shades of blue, and touches of black. Fabrics and yarns are precious, yet deliberately rough — wool, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, and leather. Accessories include aged gentlemen’s hats, brushed and washed velvet lace-ups and boots, and hybrid boots with a gaiter effect. Slim velvet scarves printed with textured motifs and silver chains woven with leather complete the look.
I hope you enjoy the collection as much as we did. Special thanks goes to Austin Smedstad at John Varvatos for sharing their images with The Refined Gent.
