Trouser Essentials For Fall
There are some basic trousers every gent should have in their wardrobe during the fall/winter season. They should include a heavy twill, cotton ripstop, corduroy and a wool flannel. The style of pant should be flat front instead of double pleats. Although single pleat trousers as well as cargo pants will be trending this season.
Cotton twill flat front pants are good to have for casual Fridays or for play on the weekends. J Crew offers a wide selection in both basic and fashion colors to choose from. These are pictured in the top left corner. I would recommend purchasing a navy and khaki pair. Dry cleaning is preferred when laundering the navy option. This will keep the color from fading through regular wash. Keeping with the cotton category, Ralph Lauren has a great pair of cotton ripstop cargo pants that are not your traditional styling, as pictured in the bottom left image. They are a straighter fit and the cargo pockets are closer to the leg. Pick up a pair in khaki so you can coordinate with a variety of colors for various ensembles.
Corduroy pants come in various blends, as well as wale widths. The finer wale is preferred since it lends itself to a more refined look. Club Monaco offers a five-pocket jean style in an array of fall colors, pictured in the top right corner. These can be dressed up or down for the office or weekend.
Grey flannel wool trousers can be worn with your sportcoat to the office. Hickey Freeman offers a well-tailored version that is half lined for better comfort. These are illustrated in the bottom right corner. I hope these suggestions will help you as you begin to plan your fall wardrobe. Always remember looking and feeling your best is all that matters.
